...Grow A New Set of Wings and Fly!
By day, I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister and lawyer. In my spare time, I am an author, who will publish her debut novel, "The Least of These," on August 29, 2017. It's an incredible, surreal feeling.
While I was writing, uncertainty continuously crept into my spirit. Uncertainty had me questioning whether the story was good enough? Could I market it? Will anyone want to read it? Can I take the criticism that comes along with putting a thing or thought out into the world?
As I battled uncertainty, my husband, one of the members of my concentric circle, encouraged me to keep writing. "Its a compelling story," he said. It was his encouragement that kept me centered and able to put uncertainty in its place.
I’ve battled uncertainty before. I remember staying in a job that had become my comfort zone. I knew what to do, when to it, and how to do it. Gradually, the work environment began to deteriorate. The employer decided to file bankruptcy. I began questioning whether I should search for a new job? Should I stay, weather the storm, hope when all is done that I would be fine and all necessary benefits would still be in place? I decided to grow a new set of wings and fly! Comfort Zone...goodbye! I found new employment. Was the grass greener on the other side? Yes!
Why am I telling you this story? Uncertainty can force us to believe that our season of change or growth has passed. As I move into another season of my life as an author, I believe that a person is never too old, nor is it too late to grow another set of wings and fly!
